Juana Molina, Un Dia

www.juanamolina.com

if you want to continue giving your brain complications with some high-fructose corn syrup, keep listening to T-Pain BUT if you want to add some complexity to it, listen to Juana.

im adding a second post on Juana because i love promoting underrated geniuses. the new album, Un Dia is out!  i saw her in february at the GAMH and she promised to come out to Oakland! WHAAT! WHAAT! or should is say: QUE?! QUE!!! =P

Juana Molina, Malherido

some dub her as the south amerikan version of bjork but i think she can stand alone w/out comparison. i love her because she’s reaching octaves and tapping vibrations in me that i rarely get from pop music.

her sound doesn’t really fit in any boxes but if you want me to put her in one i’d name it the “AncientFuture” genre. heavy on the electronic but she’s got a folk thing goin on — so it’s grounded in the ancient tradition. plus she hums not only in spanish but she’s spittin some regional indigenous talk in their too.

malherido is my favorite from the son album! clever!
