Laura Izibor, Shine

what’s goin down in dublin besides beer and irish people you ask?! well it turns out that there has been a huge influx of immigrants coming in from asia and africa… and im guessing Laura Izibor’s family have been one of them…

okay okay, im sorta lame, i actually discovered “Shine” from the movie, “The Nanny Diaries”– don’t hate- it’s legit it stars Alicia Keys and Scarlett Johansson (although the only movie I’ve liked Alicia in so far is “The Secret Life of Bees”) — anyway this is the closing song in the credits but if you asked me it should’ve also been the opening song!

this also cheers me up — on those downtrodden-when the hell am i going to land a job???- kind of days =D

Asa, Fire On The Mountain/Jailer

can i just say Nigerians are breakin ground right now… if you are still waiting for Lauryn Hill to make a come back- i mean a REAL come back… well, keep waiting but listen to the present moment because there is beautiful music being made right now.

Asa opened up for Alice Rusell the other week at Yoshi’s and of course I had to count the brown people in the room… I was getting annoyed because no one was clappin!  but Asa made it better and covered two  of my favorite Nina Simone songs!  including Funkier Thank A Mosquito’s Tweeter.  *blush
